Air conditioning Retrofit module.
This module is very simple in construction as well as in use.
Again it depends for its success on persistence rather than outright power.
Previously designs have tried to irradiate all of the air coming into an air-conditioning system as it is first
drawn in from the outside.
This does require great power usually many kilowatts, if used properly these systems are very effective.
However most air- conditioning systems re-circulates the air and has no such high power UV systems.
The consequence of this together with the constant re-infection process means a build up of micro
organisms in the ducts which increase rapidly in the warm humid air.
Filters are used to try to trap some of these particles but these do not even begin to address the problem of cross infection from room to room..
Our air-conditioning modules address not only the overall biological burden each time the air circulates but also addresses the cross infection issues. Being locally situated between the inlet of one room and the outlet of another these modules work 24 hours per day to reduce the biological burden passing through the duct.
Again low power is augmented by careful design the unit utilise the reflective areas of the ducts to
intensify the UVC does the passing air receives.
The modules require no special wiring or provision of additional power supplies; they use no more energy
than fluorescent light fitting, because of this they can be located at the most strategic positions.
Similar units were used in the Experiment carried out by Dr Beggs at Leeds infirmary.
