Upper air irradiation

This is a powerful weapon in the Medi Avant arsenal.

Its beauty is in its simplicity and economy.
The low power consumption is a factor of its clever design and the fact that it works by persistence rather than outright power. It has no moving parts, makes no noise or disturbance, it requires the minimum of maintenance just an annual lamp change.

It works by utilising the natural current of convection which exist in all rooms, human, computers and all heating systems cause a strong circulation if air. The upper air unit works by projecting a “slab or zone of UV light across the ceiling at a depth of approximately 12 inches.

Any micro organism which enters this zone is immediately deactivated i.e. it cannot replicate, many will be killed but as most micro organisms have a very short life span all will eventually die without having reproduced.

Although re-infection occurs continuously in a clinical environment the upper air unit works 24 hours per day and will overcome not only the re-infection process but also
gradually reduces the total biological burden by a factor of 84% over a period of time.
The unit requires no operator input and cannot be improperly used.


Built in safety features mean it is safe for staff and normal working can be carried out without any form of hindrance.
